The Hefty Cyclist

They call male cyclists who weigh 200 lbs or more “Clydesdales”, which I rather like. I’ve been bouncing around referring to myself as a Mini-Clydesdale for the last couple weeks… Being as I don’t weigh over 200 lbs but I’m definitely a short, solidly built critter, made for the durables rather than speed (much like my mighty steed, the 16-year old Blue Bici). It was brought to my¬† attention, however, that the cycling community is a little uncomfortable about calling the hefty girl a -horse-… so they refer to female cyclists who weigh more than 150 as Athenas.

I rather like that -too-, but I’m still gonna call myself a Mini-Clydesdale. :)
